1. PAUSE + MIST
Enables a pattern interrupt to autopilot behaviours, bringing curiosity to the brain’s automatic response, existing emotion and current thoughts.
Curiosity is correlated with creativity, intelligence, improved learning and memory, and problem solving. It’s suggested that the brain’s chemistry changes when we become curious, helping us better learn and retain information.
The prompt to diaphragmatically breathe, sends a signal to the Autonomic Nervous System of safety rather than threat. This helps to minimise the negative pressure on the Adrenal System and is more likely to place us in the state of rest, digest and repair (Parasympathetic Nervous System), over fight, fright, and flight (Sympathetic Nervous System). We are more likely to tame the Amygdala (alarm centre) and bring the Neocortex (consciousness) into play.

THE POWER OF PLANTS.
Essential oils are the essence of the plant, and have been used for thousands of years to promote healing, health, in spiritual ceremony, and have broad applications.
Inhalation of essential oils has a powerful physiological and psychological impact.
1. When we inhale through the nose, essential oil constituents interact with the olfactory sensors (receptor sites), and almost immediately, the brain.
One of the receptor sites is the Limbic Brain, which is connected to the parts of the brain that control stress levels, hormone balance, heart rate, blood pressure, and breathing.
The Limbic Brain is also responsible for our unconscious memory, lays our emotional circuitry, and houses the Amygdala; our alarm centre. The Amygdala validates safety versus danger, and reward versus threat even before we are consciously aware.
2. The essential oil constituents are also carried to the lungs, and interact with the respiratory system, therefore affecting the body through several physiological systems and pathways.
THE POWER OF THE BRAIN.
The brain can process many emotions at the same time, however it has been evolutionarily programmed to process danger first.
The signal of threat can be unconsciously triggered from stimuli as minor as TV noise, phone messages and traffic, and build significantly with conscious fear; conflict, public speaking, or trauma.
Negative emotions linger in the brain and can affect our outlook on events, therefore shifting the lens through which we view the world. When we hold onto negative emotions, we vibrate at a lower level, preventing growth and stimulating disease.
Alternatively, we hold the power to repetitively expose the brain to new and positive ideas, that stimulate new neural networks in the brain. Over time, this attracts more positivity because it creates Long Term Potentiation (similar Neurons stimulating simultaneously), changing the brain and the way we interpret a situation. The shift toward positive emotion will increase vibration to a positive frequency, encouraging positive thoughts and actions, and elevating physical and emotional wellbeing.
The Neocortex is a part of the brain that allows for conscious awareness, which is necessary to input the new positive information to the brain to create change.
The Neocortex is responsible for forward planning, stress regulation, emotional and social intelligence, willpower and judgement. It allows us to observe and contemplate ourselves, who we are being, what we are doing, our results and patterns.
The Neocortex is powerful in shifting our experience of life and actions, however research shows it is in use as little as 5% of our day.
Instead we are on autopilot 95% of the day, unconsciously repeating thoughts, emotions and behaviours adopted through experiences we had as a child, before our brains were cognitively developed.
There is often contradictory messaging; the fight between conscious and unconscious. Stress, fear and doubt (unconscious and conscious) drives the Amygdala into autopilot and disrupts the Neocortex function; impacting logic and intent. This creates a conflict between what we want and what we do – AKA self-sabotage.
