We spend 95% of our daily living on autopilot. Repeating the same patterns and processes we have adopted from our past experiences and beliefs.
If we are NOT seeking ‘behaviour change’, Auto-Pilot is our friend. This is because the human body sends 11 million bits of information per second to the brain for processing, yet the conscious mind can only process 50 bits per second. So automatic behaviours allow us to sift through those 11 million bits and choose what we need to based on our past, without even thinking.
However, if we ARE trying to change a behaviour (ie, eat well, think optimistically, breathe diaphragmatically for stress reduction), it’s a challenge to succeed long term, because we must maintain consciousness consistently, and this isn’t easy.
Part of my job is to help you to understand the neuroscience behind any behaviour change you seek, and create crystal clear actions, coupled with behaviour triggers and transitions to maintain focus.
